5 Simple Money Saving Tips and Tricks
This post is sponsored by Optum Perks but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.
As our family has grown, we have learned some ways to save money for our future.
Using these money saving tips and tricks, we are able to put more money away for our children, future trips or emergencies.
Now that we have 2 young babies, we had to really start getting our finances in order. We want to be able to go on family vacations, support our kids’ in their future endeavors, and to save for retirement one day. We figure any small amount of money saved is a win!
We are trying to save smarter and have found some small ways to make a big impact over time.
MONEY SAVING TIPS
Use Optum Perks for Prescriptions:
With no membership or fees, you can save up to 80% on prescriptions at over 64,000+ pharmacies across the nation
Very easy to use by just searching for the prescription, finding it, and then saving with the coupon
For example, when Dominic needed Hydrocortisone for his allergic reaction, we searched on Optum Perks, found a prescription coupon at Walmart, it was emailed to us and we showed it at the Pharmacy (drive through!)
Another example: when I was pregnant with Giulietta, I was given a progesterone prescription that was not covered by our insurance. We paid $250/month for these. Had we known about Optum Perks then, we would have paid $33/month. That’s a HUGE savings of almost $220/month. Prices are subject to change over time.
Overtime, these rx savings add up which we can then put to use for other things such as the kids’ savings accounts or house projects or family vacations
Get rid of cable and stream TV:
We ditched cable over a year ago and have never looked back.
We have tried several different streaming services and have saved a lot on our TV bill.
No spend months:
As often as possible, have months of no spending except for on bills or necessary things.
Try to have a month of no spending on anything extra such as clothing, going out to eat, home items, etc.
Cook at home as much as possible:
In our current climate of staying home, this has really showed us that cooking at home is much more financially beneficial.
We control what we buy and spend on food.
Sell items you own:
To save some extra money, sell things!
I do this a lot with old clothes or furniture.
It’s extra money that we wouldn’t necessarily have in our pockets that can be put into savings.
By doing a combination of these money saving tips, we have been able to save more money over time.
Using Optum Perks prescription coupons has been a game changer for us and we have told our extended family about it too! Any little bit helps, right?
I hope that you can find some great savings using Optum Perks. I know this will be a great tool to use for everyone in our family.
