How to Throw a DIY Taco Bar Birthday Party
We celebrated Dominic’s first birthday this weekend and we threw him a fun DIY taco bar party!

I have all the tips and some free printables on how to throw a DIY taco bar birthday party!
We wanted to do a fun and simple first birthday theme for Dominic and figured everyone loves a good taco!
First, I found the cutest invitation that you can personalize with your information.
For the party, we kept the decor pretty simple and let the tacos do all the talking!
I used these cute balloons to spell out ‘taco bout a party’ for the dessert table. They were easy to inflate and hang up on the wall!
I hung these paper fans from the dessert table as well to tie in the gold and the minty green from the frosting. We added a 1 balloon to Dominic’s high chair while he ate his tacos and cake!
Next, for the Salsa bar! Using a chalk board, I wrote down all the different types of salsas available and placed each underneath.
I hung up this adorable cactus photo hanger and added some of my favorite photos of Dominic on it.
Lastly, for the actual taco bar, I kept it extremely simple! We used the dining room table as the taco bar so guests could easily walk around and serve themselves. I used these little labels to put in front of each food item and you can print own HERE. Makes it easy for guests to know all the food items (especially the meat selections!), plus they are a cute touch!
The food was so easy to prepare ahead of time. The ground beef we made the night before and the pulled chicken, we thew in the crock pot the morning of the party. The rice we made right before the party started along with the roasted peppers and onions. Everything else was pretty much just open the package and put into the designated bowl!
The dessert table was definitely my favorite! My Mother in Law made the taco smash cake! It came out so adorable and Dominic loved it! I used this cake topper for his smash cake.
I opted for cupcakes instead of a cake, but made them into a cactus pull apart cupcake cake! I used this template as a guide for the cactus, which you can print HERE.
It was so easy to put together! You frost the individual cupcakes first, then line them up in the correct order and add more frosting to cover up the creases so it all looks like one cake. I ran a fork down the cake to give it some texture and topped it with some white sprinkles.
My mom made some ‘sombrero’ cookies which are just peanut butter cookies with Hershey kisses on top!
I also made some cactus pretzels by dipping the pretzels into melted white chocolate with a little green food coloring. I topped them with sprinkles and let them cool before I placed them into the white fiesta vases!
The party was so much fun! Dominic had a great time playing with his cousins and seeing all his party guests! He loved his smash cake and got it all over his face and clothes! He got some amazing and thoughtful gifts—we are so grateful to our family and friends! Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us this past weekend! XO!
It’s crazy to think Dominic is already 1, but I know the best is yet to come with him!
