Dominic turned 2 on 9/20 so to celebrate we decided on a cars, trucks, and buses themed birthday party! He is really into all of these lately so this was the perfect theme for him!
Creating this party was super easy! Thanks to my Mother in Law and Mom for helping us put it all together—it came out so cute and fun!
BIRTHDAY PARTY INVITATION
I created this party invite for his birthday and decided to make it as a printable for you! Just print it out and fill in the dates, times, place, etc!
PARTY DECOR
We kept the decor pretty simple for the party! We found some green fabric and laid it down on the food table for the ‘grass.’ Next, we put pieces of black felt along the middle to look like a road. Lastly, we added small pieces of yellow felt for the lines.
We added all different cars and trucks to the road. We used big trucks at the front of the table to hold the rolls for the food.
On the wall, we hung a birthday banner and the 2 balloon.
It was really simple, but made a big impact by using the table as the main area of decor! It didn’t require a lot of items either, which is nice when putting together a party!

PARTY FOOD
For the main meal, I wanted to do a DIY burger and hot dog bar. My in laws grilled some burgers and hot dogs and then had all the toppings you’d want to add on top!
As sides, we did fruit salad, panzanella salad, and mac and cheese. You could do any sides that your family loves, but these are ones that we enjoy!
My Mother in Law had a small charcuterie board for an appetizer—very easy!
BIRTHDAY CAKE
I wanted a 2 birthday cake for Dominic so my MIL made 4 half sheet cakes to make a double layered cake. She decorated the top to look like a road in the shape of a 2. We added some cars along with some print out cars that were on the invitation. I created a printable for these as well, if you wanted to use them as decor!
My Mom made these adorable brownies to look like stop lights. She used M+Ms as the lights—they were a hit!
PARTY FAVORS
We kept with the same theme for the party favors for the kiddos. We found some little cars, coloring books, tattoos, and cookies! We didn’t go overboard, but wanted to do something small for Dominic’s cousins and friends.

BIRTHDAY PARTY TIPS
For any party, the key is to plan ahead of time.
Send out invites about 4-5 weeks ahead of time
Planning for how many people will be there is helpful for food and drink counts
Decide on a theme, if you want to, but don’t stress if you don’t want anything themed
Since he is only 2, we didn’t go too crazy with decor.
Kid friendly food is the best!
We knew the kiddos would eat burgers and hot dogs as well as adults so we weren’t having to make tons of different things
Keep it simple.
No need to go completely overboard with decor, food, favors, etc—your child will love no matter what you do
