I love house plants! I think they add such a cozy and inviting feeling in your home. I was terrible at keeping plants alive for so long, but this hobby of mine has grown over the past year and a half and now I find it therapeutic to take care of my plants.
I am going to give you a full tour of all the house plants we have and where we have placed them in our house. Hopefully this tour will give you some ideas of what plants to bring into your home!
I also hope that this lighting guide gives you some tips for choosing a good plant for your home based off of the plants/lighting we have in our home!
HOUSE PLANT TOUR
I’m taking you room by room to give you a detailed look at all the plants we have in our home. I have found that these rooms/spaces have been perfect lighting for each of these plants. I think a lot of house plants require some figuring out which lighting and room in your house they prefer. If it seems like it’s not thriving, try moving it to a new place.
I only water once a week and I check each plant before actually watering. Some don’t even need to be watered each week.
LIVING ROOM: bright light during parts of the day as it’s a north/north west facing room. We only have one wall with windows.

Swiss Cheese Plant
ZZ Plant (not pictured, but on the TV stand)
Bromeliad (not pictured, but on an end table by the diffuser)
Pothos
FAMILY ROOM: This is a ground level room so I don’t keep too many plants down here, but these 2 seem to be doing well. I haven’t tried any others, but I might soon. This room gets light in the afternoon, but since it’s at the ground level, it’s not super bright.

Dieffenbachia/Dumb Cane Plant
KITCHEN: A south facing room with great lighting. There is only one window so I keep my plants on the window sill and they love it!

Coffee Plant
Pilea
Elephant Ears
MASTER BEDROOM: Our bedroom gets such good light which is why I have lots of plants in here. We have 2 windows and both provide perfect lighting for plants to thrive. The rubber plant next to the window loves all the light it receives!!
Spider Plant
Aloe
Rubber Plant
Prayer Plant
Peperomia
DOMINIC’S ROOM: A very dark room with little natural light. Dominic’s room only has 1 window and it’s north facing with a big tree blocking out a lot of light. A snake plant does well in low light. The silver pothos is close enough to the window so it gets enough light throughout the day to thrive.

GIULIETTA’S ROOM: Gigi’s room is another room with amazing light! I could put a lot more plants in here, but she plays in here a lot so I don’t want to constantly be moving plants around.
Peperomia
Succulent
String of Pearls
Dried Hydrangeas
HALLWAY: Our hallway doesn’t have any windows, but gets good lighting from the bedrooms when the doors are open. A dracaena is perfect here since it doesn’t require a ton of bright direct light.

I think house plants placement is just trial and error and figuring out which room has the best lighting for each plant. Each week when I water them, I move them around and rotate them so that each side gets the lighting too!
If you have any fun plants, I would love to see so please email me or message me on instagram!
