I think the best years are ahead of me and I’m excited to see what this new decade holds. This is a list of 30 things I have learned over the years—some are silly!

Drink water and then drink more water—never enough water
Take care of your skin from early on—always wear sunscreen
Set small goals to lead to your bigger goal
It’s ok to fail, as long as you get back up and try again
Success is how you measure it, not how others measure it
Don’t compare yourself to others—everyone’s journey is different
Wear white after Labor Day
Buy flowers for yourself—they brighten the day
Eat the ice cream, the extra piece of cake, or the last of the fries
Do something small for yourself each day—taking care of yourself is so important
Put up your Christmas decor whenever you want
Ignore the internal ‘clock’—everything will happen at the right time
Take care of a houseplant
Learn to cook at least 1 really yummy meal
Take deep breaths during tough situations—breathing helps to calm you down
Believe in yourself
Listen to your gut—it’s most likely right
Patience is truly a virtue
Travel when you have the opportunity—there is nothing like seeing different parts of the world/country
Smile at strangers—you never know who may need to see a happy face that day
It’s ok to not be perfect—remember, no one is perfect
Ask your grandparents about their childhoods—they most likely have unique stories to share
Be your own advocate—no one else will do it for you
Put your phone on do not disturb, when needed—especially while you sleep
Try something new each month—you can find an adventure in anything
See the glass half full—a positive mindset sets the tone for the day
BONUS LESSONS:
